YMCA of Greater Kansas City
Make a difference where it matters most — right in your community. Community Mission Board Members serve as ambassadors, advisors, and philanthropic champions for their local YMCA of Greater Kansas City center. This is a leadership volunteer role for individuals who are passionate about strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Community Mission Board Members help expand the Y's impact by building relationships, advocating for programs, identifying community partnerships, and supporting fundraising efforts such as the Annual Campaign and special events. You'll lend your voice, your network, and your insight to ensure the Y continues to meet evolving community needs. This advisory role does not include governance or staff management responsibilities — rather, it's about influence, connection, and mission-driven leadership. As a Community Mission Board Member, you commit to championing the YMCA's mission, making a personally meaningful annual gift, and engaging your network to help generate at least $5,000 annually through giving, introductions, sponsorships, or partnerships. You'll actively participate in Community Mission Board meetings, serve on at least one committee, and model the Y's core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Community Mission Board Members serve one-year renewable terms and are required to complete a background check every two years and annual Praesidium child abuse prevention training — because at the Y, safety is everyone's responsibility. If you are community-minded and ready to help shape the future of your local YMCA, we invite you to step forward and serve.

Champion Safety and Mission-Driven Leadership — Actively represent and advocate for the YMCA's mission of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, while modeling the Y's core values and upholding its commitment to child safety and protection.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The YMCA of Greater Kansas City is a Praesidium-accredited organization, reflecting our unwavering commitment to preventing abuse, promoting healthy interactions, and ensuring every child in our care is safe.
