Linwood Family YMCA
Join us Saturday, December 19th, 2026 for one of the Linwood YMCA's most impactful community events of the year! Breakfast with Santa brings together hundreds of local families for a morning filled with holiday cheer, community resources, and unforgettable memories. Volunteers play a vital role in creating a welcoming and magical experience for children and families. Volunteer responsibilities may include event setup, registration and check-in, serving breakfast, assisting with toy distribution, supporting craft stations, helping with clothing and pantry giveaways, directing families through activity areas, assisting with photos with Santa, monitoring activity spaces, and event cleanup. This annual event serves more than 225 families and over 600 children, providing toys, meals, clothing, pantry items, and opportunities for families to connect with valuable community resources during the holiday season. No special experience is required—just a positive attitude, a willingness to help, and a heart for serving others. Whether you volunteer individually or as part of a group, your time and support will help create a memorable holiday experience for families throughout our community. Bring Smiles to Little Faces – Volunteer in Kids Zone! 🧸🎨 North Kansas City YMCA Kids Zone is where the littlest members of our Y family—ages 12 weeks to 8 years—laugh, play, and learn while their grown-ups stay active elsewhere in the building. We’re looking for nurturing, energetic volunteers to help create a fun, safe, and engaging space. As a Kids Zone Volunteer, you’ll: ✅ Lead or support active play, storytime, and art projects ✅ Help supervise little ones with care and kindness ✅ Keep the space clean, safe, and welcoming Volunteer Shifts Available: 🕒 Mon–Thurs: 8:30 AM–1:00 PM & 4:45 PM–8:00 PM 🕒 Fridays: 8:30 AM–1:00 PM 🕒 Saturdays: 9:00 AM–1:00 PM Kids Zone is free for family members—and full of fun for volunteers, too! The book club provides a platform for readers to engage in group discussions. Book selections are made with member input and are the focus of regular meetings. A lead volunteer organizes meetings and prepares discussion topics to foster conversation. The volunteer's role is to facilitate productive discussion and manage communication with members.

The Y is celebrating 20 years of the YMCA Challenger/Adaptive Program with Cause for Celebration: Challenger All-Star Classic on Saturday, September 12! Join us at the Urban Youth Academy as families, volunteers, supporters, and the community cheer on our Challenger athletes during the All-Stars and Futures games, then head to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum for a post-game celebration honoring two decades of inclusion, teamwork, and joy.
