Why This Role Matters Once a month, our YMCA partners with Harvesters – The Community Food Network to bring groceries directly to families who need them. Volunteers are the heart of this effort — the friendly hands that sort the food, the warm faces that greet each family, and the helping hands that load the trunk. For many of the families we serve, this distribution is a genuine lifeline, and the way you welcome them can matter just as much as the food itself. What You'll Do Sort and organize food as it arrives from Harvesters Pack boxes and bags with a balanced mix of pantry staples, produce, and other supplies Load food directly into participants' vehicles with a smile and a kind word Check in families as they arrive and record visits in [tracking system/sign-in log] to help us understand and serve our community well Help keep the line moving smoothly, so every family feels welcomed rather than rushed When & Where Schedule: First Wednesday of every month, 1:00 – 4:00 PM Location: [Branch name and address] Commitment: Come to one shift or make it a regular monthly rhythm — whatever fits your life What You'll Bring A warm, non-judgmental attitude toward every person you serve Ability to lift/carry up to 25–30 lbs and stand for the shift Comfort working outdoors in a parking-lot setting, in most weather Reliability — families are counting on us to be there No experience needed; we'll train you on-site What You'll Gain The satisfaction of directly nourishing families in your own community Camaraderie with fellow volunteers and Y associates who share your values A meaningful way to give back in just one afternoon a month Documented volunteer hours available upon request Ready to Help?
